Zhuge Dan; rebels against Sima Zhao at Shouchun - the largest of the 'Three Rebellions of Huainan'. With his garrison of 200,000 men, secret ally Wu, and son Zhuge Jing as hostage in Wu, raises the eastern garrison. The chapter's main action is the building siege; Wu sends Wen Qin and Wen Yang back to reinforce. Sima Zhao's army surrounds Shouchun in turn.

Zhuge Dan dies. After months of siege at Shouchun, supplies exhausted; defections begin. Zhuge Dan murders Wen Qin in a council quarrel; the Wen sons (Wen Yang, Wen Hu) defect with the news; sentries surrender the gates. Zhuge Dan is run down in flight by Hu Fen; whole clan executed. The Third Huainan Rebellion ends.
