One jaw of the pincer on Sun Li: sent with five thousand troops (Zhang Ni with another five thousand) to halt near the camp and attack from outside once the convoy burns. When Sun Li charges at the blaze thinking it his own side's signal, the two of them close in behind him and 'soon had Sun Li as in a net', and the third roll of drums is Ma Dai coming up out of the fire.
