Lady Zhen

Lady Zhen; Yuan Xi's wife; found weeping in the Yuan household at Yejun by the eighteen-year-old Cao Pi who immediately marries her - the rare named female figure in the early book.

Cao Pi found her at the sack of Yejun, where she was the wife of Yuan Shao's second son, and married her; she bore him Cao Rui. Displaced when Lady Guo arrives and falls from favour, then destroyed by Zhang Tao's charge that a wooden image bearing the Emperor's birth-date had been dug up in her palace — Cao Pi in his anger forces her to commit suicide. Styled Empress Zhen posthumously at her son's accession.
