Cao Cao puts him to drum duty at a court banquet; Mi Heng strips naked and beats the drum so contemptuously the court is paralysed, then walks out reviling Cao Cao name by name. Cao Cao sends him to Liu Biao who passes him to Huang Zu - who kills him for the same disrespect.
